KRATOS (tork)

In India, the Tork Kratos electric street bike has a starting price of Rs. 1,31,070. It comes in two versions and four hues, with the premium version starting at Rs. 1,62,541. The motor on Tork Kratos produces 4000 W of power. Tork Kratos develops a dual-wheel braking system with both front and rear disc brakes.
To compete with models like the Revolt RV400, Tork Motors has introduced the new Kratos electric motorcycle to the Indian market. The new Tork Kratos will be made gradually available throughout India in two variants: Standard and R. This electric motorcycle will initially be sold in Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, and Ahmedabad.
The Tork Kratos has bare-bones roadster style that is complimented with a headlight with a triangle form, a split-type seat, and two-piece grip rails for the pillion. White is the only colour option for the base model, whereas the R variation has four colour options: white, blue, red, and black.
The electric motor in the standard model has a maximum torque of 28Nm and a peak power output of 7.5kW, or 10.05bhp. The R model, on the other hand, produces a peak torque of 38Nm and a significantly higher power output of 9kW, or 12.06 horsepower. The standard model's acceleration from 0 to 40 kilometres per hour takes four seconds, and its top speed is 100 kilometres per hour. The R version has a 105 kmph top speed and a 3.5 second 0 to 40 kmph acceleration time.
Both variations' 4kWH, IP67-certified lithium-ion battery packs are advertised as having an IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range of 180 km. For both motorcycles, the manufacturer states a real-world range of 120km per charge. The R model also benefits from fast charging, and according to Tork Motors, recharging from 0% to 80% may be completed in one hour.
Full-LED lighting, a completely digital instrument cluster, numerous ride modes, regenerative braking, reverse mode, mobile connectivity, USB charging, anti-theft, a front storage box, and OTA updates are among the features that come as standard on both models. Fast charging, two years of free use of the charging network, geofencing, find my car, motor walk assist, crash alert, track mode, and smart charge analysis are additional advantages of the premium R model.

The battery pack serves as a strained element of the steel trellis frame that supports the motorcycle. Telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock are in charge of the suspension. Single discs are used as the anchor points on both ends, and CBS technology serves as the safety net.

Introduction

A familiar name in the area of electric automobiles is Tork Motors. It is one of the first businesses to seize onto the idea of green mobility. It created various electric bicycles that competed and won races on the Isle of Man. Then it produced several more, but they missed the racetracks. Nevertheless, Tork Motors kept looking for new approaches to build eco-friendly automobiles. The T6X, an electric motorcycle that was meant to be released years ago, was its largest project. However, because development took so long, the Kratos R is the first model that is ready for production. I don't believe Tork is lying when they claim that this is the first electric motorcycle made entirely in India.

The Visuals

To begin with, the Tork Kratos R appears to be a typical motorcycle. It doesn't look slim or little, and it doesn't have design cues that scream "Imported from China but assembled in India." The Kratos R has the appearance of a motorbike that could fall inside the 150cc–160cc range.  The bike has an aggressive appearance that will draw a lot of young people. It has a stylish touch thanks to the fascia with the angular headlamp unit. The Kratos R has a supple and flowing crease from the side, which increases its aggression. The tail side is very well-balanced and executed. So, it's clear that this EV has some overall bulk and mass.

The Tork staff did a respectable job in terms of overall fit and finish. Although it's not as nice as bikes from well-known manufacturers, this is still a respectable showing for a startup business. Plastics are of a satisfactory quality. There are a few panel gaps, but they might get less as their workers spend more time on the production line. The use of black plastic panels on the fuel tank and the tail area was the one element I really didn't like. It looked quite bad because of the texture. However, the corporation did promise to do better in the future.

The Package

The Kratos and the Kratos R are the available variations. The battery pack is a stressed part in both types, which are constructed around a split trellis frame. The basic version is calibrated to provide a maximum torque of 28Nm and a peak power output of 7.5kW or 10.05bhp. The R model that we drove produces 9kW, or 12.06bhp, and a maximum torque of 38Nm. The 4kWH, IP67-certified lithium-ion battery pack used in both variations is said to have an IDC range of 180 km. Additionally, the top man at Tork Motor stated that under optimum city settings, the customer might anticipate between 100 and 120km.

The Kratos R is a powerhouse in terms of features. The front storage box is one of the most crucial ones. This feature is quite useful and beneficial for everyday riding circumstances. The bicycle has two riding settings: eco and power. Additionally, a reverse function is available in case the rider needs to exit a small parking space. Anti-theft technology, crash alert, guide-me-home lighting, and other features are available. OTA updates are also available for the bike.
THE RIDE

Similar seating ergonomics are provided by the Kratos R as those of a 160cc motorcycle, such as the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. It's simple to adjust the saddle height. The wide handlebar is simple to reach once you're on it. You get a sporty but comfortable riding position because to the footpegs' slight rear-seat position. The absence of a rear brake pedal, though, gives this bike a peculiar sensation. The braking sensation requires some getting used to.

Here we are at the crucial part. How is riding the Kratos R? There are two modes: sport and eco. In eco mode, the Kratos R operates similarly to a 125cc commuter motorbike. Although there is some power, it is not enough to overtake cars quickly. High speeds are difficult to achieve and take much longer when there is a passenger. The eco mode will undoubtedly cause you to get at your destination a little later than anticipated if there is an uphill. The green option will, however, provide you the greatest riding range. At the time we picked up the bike, it had 102 kilometres. The sport mode, though, is exciting, pleasurable, and captivating. The power delivery surges quickly until it reaches the limiter, with instant torque delivery. However, the range started to drastically decrease in this model, making it clear that the sport mode shouldn't be used regularly. The other mode also works fairly well. neither engages too quickly nor accelerates quickly.

We think the excellent frame shape and weight distribution are to blame for the Kratos R's incredible agility. Whether driving furiously around curves or while commuting, the Kratos R handles superbly and maintains its grounding. The ride on the Kratos R, though, ought to have been a little smoother at the back. Although it is cosy, it might have used a little more plushness. Moving on to the brakes, they operate well at low speeds but tend to have problems at high speeds. Nevertheless, the CBS system only functions well for city riding.

Should you buy it?

It's clear that the Tork Kratos R was thoroughly thought out. It has a highly sharp appearance and a typical motorcycle's look and feel. It is equipped with a practical and usable motor and battery pack. Additionally, it has characteristics that improve the electric motorcycle's overall appeal and function. The e-motor on the Kratos R doesn't whine as much as those on a few other e-scooters on the market. The battery's advertised riding range is respectable. We won't know the precise figures until we test the Kratos R. But for now, it appears to be fairly good on paper. Tork has to improve on a few aspects, particularly in terms of quality and dependability. The black textured plastics aren’t appreciable, and our motor did go into a limp mode more than once as the temperature sensor gave up.
Tork Kratos Front View

The Tork Kratos R costs Rs 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune, post subsidy) and for this price, it’s a good electric motorcycle to have. It is aspirational and thanks to its sharp design language, it is definitely going to stand apart. So, you should buy the Kratos R if you want something stylish, offering good performance and riding range, and don’t have the patience to wait for other electric motorcycles launch in the market.
